/SEXY BEACH PARTY

[As soon as the sun had slid behind the horizon, pierced deep in the chest by the mountains (and wasn't that imagery that brought back memories), Alucard had felt an ache easing in him.

he hadn't even known he'd had it, but returning home to Wallachia, returning home to brutal winters and great wolfhounds in the kennels and standoffish corpulent woman cooks who made food to coat your bones and warm them, warm them, was good. it soothed him. he had missed his motherland. every land had a scent, and there was no smell good as home.

he watched the thick snow fall through the double French windows of the castle he (a wealthy foreigner, he'd said he was, from England for some years now- not a lie, certainly not the truth) had recovered. it was odd to see it turned to peacetime purposes. he still couldn't shake the feeling of wartimes come when he paced its corridors, but ah, ah. he was a fossil, an old man, a monster of time. what did it matter?

not much.

turning away, Alucard shrugged on a smoking jacket, eyeballed his library lazily, and stepped out into the hallway, intent on standing on the garrets and enjoying a good cigar for an hour or two. perhaps he'd hear the wolves this night.

[PSL to Hound]

[he'd left the staking-out and the drawing of the borders to the men, the planning and the organization to his master. the building, and all fifty-six dead (including a dog, which was new even for this case) were all he was in the company of today. outside, the boundaries of the massacre were clear, and every inch of police tape was also guarded by special Hellsing troops. he could, if he concentrated, feel the collective heat of their bodies, and could certainly hear the thrums of their hearts.

none of that interested him tonight. though all the police and troops outside were, by special decree, female, and as a matter of course many were quite lovely, he had more interesting things to attend to.

the tower was smallish in the general scheme of things, though large for this corner of town. fifty-six dead was not a large amount of dead in particular, either, though, again, for this corner of town it counted as. no, the interesting part was that the women had been unharmed, had simply woken to find their men (sons and brothers and fathers and lovers and... pet?) dead and their eyes gouged out.

there was more to it than that, more mess and fuss than Alucard cared for, but the important part now was that he was ghosting around in the building, trying to make sense of the scenes, all fifty-four of them. (well, it was a modern time, and there were bound to be a few poofs here and there, he supposed.)

he stopped at the foot of a bed on the fourteenth floor, studying the man lying there. the massacre had been but last night, so the body was still fairly fresh. still, Alucard could scent the rot already setting in. he looked rather dispassionately at the body in front of him, trying for the life of him to shake the disconcerting worry that he knew somebody who did just this, precisely this.

the only thing was, the man he knew was a much tidier eater. this one had a less-steady knife hand.
